Obama, Hit and Run, Hilton Chicago
After finding a parking garage (with valet) I walked across the street to the Hilton. Seeing how I am curious and enjoy sticking my nose in other people’s business, I asked a television crew member ‘what’s the big story’? The crew member stated that “Obama’s here”. Pretty cool; I thought to myself. I walked inside of the Hotel, tons of badges and people everywhere. After a few seconds of entering the building I then thought to myself ‘this makes perfect sense’. Since the SES Chicago Expo began on Monday the 8th, I have seen tons of people walking around the hotel with guns and badges dressed like they were part of the SWAT team. Never thought much of it prior, but now the light went off in my head. Anyway, I missed the first two sessions of the Expo because I had to take care of business and attend some conference calls (business as usual).
While I was on one of my conference calls I glanced over at one of the flat screens near me and there was Obama talking about job losses and what not. I was not able to listen to what he was saying as I was on a call, but I did glance at the ever so impressive scrolling titles at the bottom of the screen.
Immediately after I ended the first conference call and joined the second conference call, I was quite amazed (but not surprised) at what a saw through the window of the Hilton. Without going into dramatic detail I witnessed a hit and run between two taxi cabs. The taxi cab that did the hitting and running was with ‘Checker Taxi’, so I highly advise that you do NOT use their services if you are ever in Chicago. I notified the security guard of the Hilton of what I witnessed (being a good lawful member of society and all) however there was nothing he could do. At least I tried, that’s what matters; most people would have done nothing.
Anyway, I then started walking down the lobby halls of the Hilton and what I overhead from an Obama personal (I’m assuming, this gentleman was an Obama personal / security staff) was very interesting. This man was speaking with two individuals employed by the hotel (I know so because they had Hilton name badges). The man was stating items such as “not checking perimeters”, “they are lying to me” and “I’m pissed”.
This is all I heard, considering the circumstances of Obama being in the hotel you can understand my assumptions. What the discussion was related too, I can only guess but I’m pretty sure I know who it is in reference of.
Anyway, this was very interesting morning for me. Not much happens in the city (hahahaha), but this is worth writing about.
